I'm Daniel S., the breeder behind Nautica Wildhart located in Albany, GA. Our dogs excel both in and out of the show ring. They are excellent representations of the breed and have wonderful temperaments. Our breeding program focuses on maintaining the unique characteristics specific to Italian Greyhounds while striving to produce puppies of superior health, temperament, and conformation. We are proud of our dogs and their puppies, and it is always our goal to preserve and better the breed with each litter.

Breeding is part of the natural process in showing and improving of the breed. Health, correct breed type, and temperament are so important to our breeding program.Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and a kennel on my property.

Parent health testing
Great level
Nautica Wildhart reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Italian Greyhounds.
Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Patellar Luxation
Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.
Legg-Calve-Perthes (OFA)
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
DNA Disease Panel
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
