I'm Mercedes H., the breeder behind North Woods Chihuahua’s & Golden Retrievers located in Charleston, ME. We are dedicated to continuing our phenomenal lines in an effort to provide our families with loving, healthy, and happy puppies. Our puppies leave for their new homes with a solid foundation of training and socialization, and we strive for quality and excellence with everything that we do.

Why did you start breeding?
I have watched my mother show and breed for many years. It wasn't hard for me to follow her lead, since my love for animals has always been a part of me.What makes your program special?
We have many adults that have been health tested for cardiac, eyes and patellas. Sires, that we breed to, have even been embarked for more genetic testing. Our adults have champion bloodlines, they are kept in our home with daily interaction and are raised around my children and other animals. Our puppies are raised in our main living area for daily activity.What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include black, blue, blue and white, red and white, cream and white, chocolate and tan, and black and white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

“Grandparents, Dame's and/or Sires have been health tested. Health guarantee and lifetime support. Puppies come vet checked with a vet health certificate, properly wormed and age-appropriate shots. The non-refundable is to assure the puppy has a home and doesn't miss out on another approved home.”

Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
Patellar Luxation
Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.
Full Embark Panel
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).

Mercedes was extremely knowledgeable about her breed and her dogs. She kept in touch and advised me thru the wait to get Tobi. Tobi is the perfect pup. Mercedes raises the pups in her home so I feel the pups have a great temperament due to this. When I get another it will be from Mercedes. Tobi is perfect.
