We love this breed and our dogs are a huge part of our family. Being able to educate others about the breed and provide them with the same joy of owning a Boerboel is my passion in life.

They don’t seem to mind the sound so far! We’re working on acclimating them to a variety of noises—gunshots, fire alarms, children playing, vacuums, banging pots, fireworks, thunderstorms, and more. Early exposure to these common sounds helps lay the foundation for a confident, well-adjusted dog that isn’t anxious or fearful in everyday environments.

Puppies are now four weeks old and have started sound desensitization! We have a playlist that we play for them while they are doing fun things, socializing, playing eating, etc. to desensitize them to common noises that caused stress and anxiety in dogs. It really helps making them bombproof!

Leia, mom
Boerboel
About Leia
Leia is a confident, happy, and athletic South African Boerboel with an engaging personality and a solid working temperament. She has a balanced amount of drive—motivated, alert, and ready to engage—while remaining calm and stable around people, making her both a pleasure to handle and a reliable companion.
Sired by Klein Sandfontein Judge, a stud known for consistently producing champions, Leia exemplifies the traits one would expect from such strong lineage. She boasts a beautifully clean topline, well-defined musculature, excellent rear angulation, broad chest, tight feet and feminine yet correct head. Her proportions are feminine and elegant without sacrificing the power and presence that define the Boerboel breed.
Shes an impressive girl and weather she’s at play or standing watch, Leia embodies the perfect balance of beauty, brawn, and brains.

Rhaegar, dad
Boerboel
About Rhaegar
Rhaegar is a striking, athletic male with a rich brindle coat and a commanding yet affectionate presence. He’s joyful by nature and thrives in a pack environment, showing zero signs of same-sex aggression. His temperament is remarkably balanced — confident, social, and deeply bonded to his family.
This boy has an unmistakable charisma. Whether he’s playfully rolling in the grass, alert and on guard, or simply relaxing with a goofy grin, Rhaegar exudes warmth and strength. Everyone who meets him is drawn to his outgoing and sweet disposition — traits he reliably passes down to his offspring.
Rhaegar is more than just a handsome face. He brings structure, loyalty, and a gentle heart into the lives of those around him. His legacy is already visible in his puppies, who consistently reflect his stellar temperament and engaging personality. He is the picture of health at now 7 years young. Rhaegar is fully health tested.
Parent health testing
Breeder-Reported Testing
Good level
Northland Boerboels reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Boerboels.
Hip Dysplasia (Preliminary)
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
