Meet the breeder

I'm Kathy & Melissa B., the breeder behind Northstar Chihuahuas located in Brook Park, MN. I am retired and live with my daughter and since retirement have time to spend with our babies! They are part of our family, actually they rule the house!

Q. & A. with Kathy & Melissa

  • Why did you start breeding?

My parents bred chihuahuas and I always wanted to, but wanted to wait until I retired, so I had the time to care for my babies.

  • What makes your program special?

We have 3 females that have been raised in our home. They have full run of the house; they are our everything. Each puppy that is born here is handled, loved and is well socialized from the time they are born until the day they go home with you.

  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

Our puppies include smooth and long coat varieties. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include cream, black sabled fawn, chocolate and white, silver and white, cream and white, chocolate and tan, blue and white, black and white, fawn and white, and black and tan. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Kathy & Melissa was a pleasure to work with. They are very knowledgeable about the Chihuahua breed. They care about all their fur babies. They are very great about keeping in touch and answering any questions. Kathy & Melissa have healthy and happy fur babies. So glad I went this route this time. Good Dog was very easy to work with. Gave me a great piece of mind with all of the scams out there. Highly recommend Kathy and Melissa through Good Dog! Love my little fur baby Kayce ❤️🐾

I cannot recommend these breeders highly enough!!! From the very beginning, they were incredibly kind, caring, and genuinely invested in the well-being of their dogs. Its very clear that every puppy is raised with so much love, attention, and care. What stood out most was their compassion and dedication, not just to the puppies, but to the families adopting them. They truly go above and beyond, and their kindness made the entire experience wonderful. If you’re looking for breeders who are responsible, trustworthy, and deeply passionate about their dogs, I would wholeheartedly recommend them!

Kathy and Melissa are a dream to work with. They responded quickly to messages, offered great advice as we prepared for our new puppy, and sent pictures regularly so we always knew how Maple was doing. She came home well socialized and calm, and was already using a piddle pad on day one. It’s clear they genuinely care about their dogs and puppies; you can see it in how loving Maple is. We can’t recommend them enough!

Kathy and Melissa were absolutely amazing. This is my first time adopting a puppy and they made it a wonderfully exciting, positive, and thoroughly fabulous experience. They both have so much knowledge of the breed and helped me choose the perfect puppy, prepare my home for him, and have been available for questions even after I’ve brought him home. I can’t say enough good things about this experience. If you’re looking for a Chihuahua puppy, look no further than Kathy and Melissa and Northstar Chihuahuas. You will absolutely not be disappointed.
