Brittany has been certified by Good Dog's screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you're ready to reach out, feel free to ask any questions about the breed, their program, or specific puppies.
Together, you’ll choose the puppy that’s right for you, stay in touch with regular updates, and plan how to bring your new puppy home.

"Includes first 2-3 rounds of vaccinations, & AKC/UKC/NIPPO registrations. If I have to ship puppy, there will be an additional cost for transport, and for any additional time spent here over 10 weeks. $500 nonrefundable deposit once pregnancy confirmed with puppy counts to ensure homes are secured & is not refunded if you back out after. Brittany W.
At this time, I highly recommend anyone interested in Kishu Ken to reach out to another Kishu Ken breeder within the US. Akiyama no Roushya, Akagawa Roushya and Kiseki no Yama are a few I can recommend. My program is quite small, with just one female and one male Kishu Ken. Thus far we have had 3 failed breeding attempts, with the latest failed attempt being confirmed to not have resulted in a pregnancy on Thursday. I will likely be skipping my females next heat cycle as I need a break both emotionally and financially. Breeding is not easy, nor is it cheap when done correctly and ethically. I apologize to anyone who may have been excited about a puppy from me, but I am at least a year out from attempting a breeding again, and closer to 1.5 years before a puppy would even be ready to go home. -Brittany

Ourou Sou reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Kishu Kens.
Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Patellar Luxation
Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.
Thyroid (Autoimmune Thyroiditis, registered with OFA), Dentition
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
DNA Disease Panel
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
