I'm David P., the breeder behind Pastor dePeixes located in Mc Henry, IL. My bredable Portuguese Water Dogs are family first. I got my first PWD in 2007 and quickly fell in love with the breed. My second one is where I became interested in the show and preformance of the breed. My male is a Grand Champion and has numerous other AKC titles. My young female became an AKC Grand Champion Bronze level before two years. All personally owner handled. Her pedigree in exceptional as both sire and dam are AKC Grand Champion Platinum I care deeply about my dogs and puppies, and want only the best for them and for our buyers. My dogs breeding strictly follows health testing mandates by our national club.

Why did you start breeding?
My aspiration never was to become a breeder. But I love the versatility, intelligence and work ethic of Portuguese Water Dogs. The dogs that I have the pedigree should not stop where it lies. The pedigree should be used to further improve our breed.What makes your program special?
Temperament I beleive is key. My dogs are family first. Sires and or dams will be carefully selected. Not only for practical health testing matches but for temperament and drive.Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Microphthalmia Syndrome (PES), DNA Disease Panel, Early Onset Progressive Retinal Atrophy (EOPRA), PRA, Rod-Cone Degeneration (PRA-prcd), Juvenile Dilated Cardiomyopathy, GM1 Gangliosidosis, Portuguese Water Dog Type
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
