I'm Kylie E., the breeder behind Peak Mountain Kennels located in Dayton, VA. Our dogs have gone on to become reliable family members, service dogs, and all-around adventure pals to their forever families! Our dogs are excellent working dogs, and we are proud to continue their line. We breed both to provide families with loving and capable companions and to improve upon our dogs' fantastic traits with each generation.
Q. & A. with Kylie
Why did you start breeding?
When growing up my Grandfather and dad raised Bear Hunting hounds, and as I got old enough to mess with them and go hunting I just couldn't get enough of the dog aspeck of life. My Grandfather would take me to AKC dog shows to let me see all the different breeds and I just was amazed at all the work, effort, and connection those owners/handlers had with their dogs. And I knew right then thats what I wanted to be/do
What makes your program special?
All the time and effort we out into our dogs it shows. And just knowing that I'm carrying on a generation of raising dogs
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include white and liver, liver and white, and liver roan. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and a kennel on my property.

Parent health testing
Peak Mountain Kennels reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for German Shorthaired Pointers.
Hip Dysplasia (rDVM, not registered)
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia (rDVM, not registered)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Eye Examination (rDVM, not registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Cardiac Evaluation (rDVM, not registered with OFA)
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
