I'm Hailee L., the breeder behind Pilgrims Trails Shorthairs located in Dugspur, VA. We commit ourselves towards preparing each one of our puppies to thrive in their new homes, and we enjoy working with their new families so that they can raise their beloved companions with confidence! Our dogs are OFA certified for their hips and elbows as well as being tested for genetic diseases.

Why did you start breeding?
I fell in love with the whole idea when I was growing up,watching my mom do it.I have always had a passion for the breed.And knew it was something I wanted to do.It’s been years of wanting to do it,to actually becoming a good breeder.The journey has been amazing.What makes your program special?
My breeding program is special because I have a passion for our fur babies.They are a part of our family.They are more than “just a dog”.I think it’s all about perceptive.We are raising quality puppies to become your next family member,your kids next best friend and we do that with respect and pride.What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
German Shorthaired Pointer puppies include liver roan, liver and white, black roan, and black and white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and a kennel on my property.

Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.

Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).

We got a German shorthair puppy from Hailee 15 months ago. He has boundless energy, playful antics, and is learning his role as a part of our family. He has striking markings and weighs about 60 lbs.
