I'm Jason and Diane S., the breeder behind Pointers of the Valley located in Rock Valley, IA. Our dogs are bred to produce healthy, sound, and versatile pups. They make excellent hunting companions and family pets. We breed each litter of puppies with the goal of superior temperament, health, conformation, movement, and the natural ability and drive to hunt. We take great pride in our dogs, and they produce MOoutstanding puppies.
Q. & A. with Jason and Diane
Why did you start breeding?
We tried different breeds of dogs and a friend gave us a German Shorthaired Pointer and compared to our labs at the time it looked to be a skinny, skrawny dog but we were open to try a new breed. We were a little offended when he stated that once we had a GSP we would replace our labs! A long story shortened is exactly what happened! We concentrated on only GSP from that day onward.
What makes your program special?
Our breeding program was started as a hobby with our 4 sons over 35 years ago and now we are watching our grandchildren show and hunt the same lineage their parents showed as kids. We have many repeat buyers requesting a certain lineage that we are able to produce.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include liver roan, liver and white, liver, black roan, black and white, and black. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in a kennel on my property.
