Meet the breeder

I'm Tami B., the breeder behind Prestige Portuguese Water Dogs located in North Canton, OH. I’ve been so blessed to help my girls raise their puppies, as well as help them to be confident, social, loving, affectionate puppies when they go with their forever families. Our puppies are crate trained, bathed & groomed frequently. Our puppies deserve the very best, and thats what I give them.

Q. & A. with Tami

  • Why did you start breeding?

After having a pair of PWDs and doing a great deal of research, along with all the health testing required by the PWDCA (Portuguese Water Dog Club of America), and careful consideration, decided to breed my pair. The PWD is a wonderful breed, that is great with children as well as other animals. Once I realized how difficult it was to adopt a pwd in the USA, unless you were willing to show them. I thought it was so unfair to the families that just wanted a wonderful companion. That is why I started my breeding program. I breed for temperament, health, and breed standard.
  • What makes your program special?

I raise our puppies in my home with constant human contact, puppy culture, several visitors, exposure to as many surfaces, noises, challenges possible, which builds their confidence, creating a well socialized, confident, loving, and affectionate puppy. Following Puppy Culture to raise our litters, we are hands-on with our puppies from the day they are born, until the day they leave with their forever families. I introduce them to several obstacles that you’d find in agility courses, which builds their confidence. Our puppies are well socialized with adults, children, as well as our adult pwds. I welcome families that are interested in adopting a PWD to come visit our girls to get to know our breed. ❤️
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include black and white, black, and white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
