I'm Lisa, Hadley, and Jeff G., the breeder behind Ripsnorter Kennels located in Utica, OH. Ripsnorter Kennel acquired its first German Wirehaired Pointer in 1976. We were total novice dog people at that time. We have spent years learning from top show and field mentors and developing our program. Lisa became a Veterinary Technician and spent several years working for world renowned Canine Reproduction Veterinarian Dr. Robert Hutchison and the rest of the doctors at Animal Clinic Northview, Inc. We now have the top three Top Producing Sires in GWP's for show champions and another in the top 10. We bred and own one of only 6 CH/VC GWP in breed history. We have produced VC Pudelpointers also. We strive to maintain versatile hunting dogs that are a picture of health and will be a wonderful family addition.
Q. & A. with Lisa, Hadley, and Jeff
Why did you start breeding?
Ripsnorter Kennel acquired its first German Wirehaired Pointer in 1976. Not long after, they figured one more wouldn’t hurt and the foundation for greatness was laid with “Duff”, BIS/BISS AM/CAN/BAH CH. Windhaven’s Stutzer Stumper. “Duff” took the Georges’ on the ride of their lives and they were hooked on the GWP forever. The rest is history.
What makes your program special?
Ripsnorter Kennels is a proud, three-generation program, that specializes in healthy, versatile dogs. We test all of our dogs with OFA health tests and produce animals that excel in both the field and show ring. Throughout the years we have produced many champions, and some of today's top winners go back to Ripsnorter lines. We have also produced top NAVHDA dogs, including several Versatile CH.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and a kennel on my property.
