I'm Linda J., the breeder behind River Run Parson Russell terriers & River Run Ridgebacks located in Carney, OK. Each of our dogs has brought so much happiness to us throughout their lives. We want to do our part to produce wonderful, healthy dogs that can bring other people joy as well, and we strive to provide each of our puppies with loving homes where they can live happy lives.

  • Why did you start breeding?

    it was years ago I started as a hobby breeder but then learned more and became serious about actually preserving the breed, Parson Russells were getting to much foreign blood I wanted to breed pure lines

  • What makes your program special?

    my dogs are very special and I have very nice lines although they are raised in a kennel it is across my driveway and I spent an enormous amount of time with them, everyone that comes here loves my setup

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our Rhodesian Ridgeback puppies include wheaten, rd whtn brn nose, lt whtn blk nose, wheaten blk nose, red wheaten, wheaten brn nose, rd whtn blk nose, lt whtn brn nose, and light wheaten. Parson Russell Terrier puppies include white, white and tan, and tri-colored. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home and a kennel on my property.

  • Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)

    Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.

  • Congenital Deafness (BAER, registered with OFA)

    A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.

  • Primary Lens Luxation (PLL)

    Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).

    Linda was flexible and worked with our pickup schedule, and Tank immediately showed a connection to her at that time. He was clean, well cared for, and ready to travel home, and Linda thoughtfully prepared a go bag to help make his transition to our home easier. She also provided a contract stating that if we were ever unable to care for Tank, he would be returned to her, which demonstrated her commitment to his well-being. Since coming home, Tank has been all puppy, but we are impressed by how smart and intuitive he is. He learns routines quickly and was already house trained when we got him—any accidents were due to us not recognizing his cues. Tank shows a natural instinct to care for others, such as positioning himself on the stairs to prevent our grandson from falling. While he is still a puppy and sometimes plays a bit too roughly, he learns from every interaction, and his curiosity and protective nature toward our family are truly admirable. We believe these qualities reflect the intentional characteristics that River Run Ridgebacks works to breed into their dogs, and they are clearly evident in the offspring and in how Linda raises and cares for them.

    After another breeder fell through right before Christmas, I found Linda who had a pup available immediately. Linda communicated with me the entire time and spoke with me prior to pick-up. Linda answered all my questions. Once I got there, Linda had everything ready and made the transition so easy. The best thing I appreciate about Linda is to this day, she still checks in and communicates with us about our pup.
