Meet the breeder

I'm Sahar G., the breeder behind Sahar Paz Salukis located in Grass Valley, CA. Our Desert-bred Salukis are first and foremost family dogs. They are sporty, classy and come from healthy working lines. About Us — Sahar Paz Salukis Sahar Paz Salukis was established in 2022 in Grass Valley, born from a deep respect for the Saluki’s ancient heritage and a modern commitment to life as a beloved companion. Our lines are directly descended from the Neshama Tova lines in Israel and are first-generation desert-bred imports. As of 2026, our dogs carry no American genetics, preserving authentic type, temperament, and athleticism. While our Salukis honor their history, they are bred first and foremost as pets and family members—dogs meant to live in the home, bond deeply with their people, and share everyday life. Our dogs have already proven themselves in the show ring. One of our own, Hornet, recently became the first Sahar Paz Saluki to earn a Championship title, a milestone we are incredibly proud of. Athletically, our lines shine in simulated hunting sports, excelling in Lure Coursing and Fast CAT, where their natural speed, drive, and grace truly come alive. So far, we have welcomed two litters: The Kittyhawk Litter (December 2023), consisting of 3 males and 4 females—4 smooth-coated and 3 feathered. The Lockheed Litter (January 2026) consisting of 1 male and 3 females - 3 feathered, 1 smooth. Genetically, our lines are equally likely to produce smooth or feathered Salukis, reflecting the natural balance seen in traditional desert-bred stock. At Sahar Paz Salukis, we are honored to steward this extraordinary breed—preserving its heritage, celebrating its versatility, and raising Salukis who are as cherished at home as they are impressive in the field.

Q. & A. with Sahar

  • Why did you start breeding?

Our lines trace back to the Neshama Tova lines in Israel and from there, back to Saudi Arabia, Dubai, the UAE and the desert Bedouins that roam the middle east. Recognizing the rarity of the breed in general and desert-bred lines in particular, we felt it was our duty to shepherd the legacy of this majestic breed.
  • What makes your program special?

As of 2026, our lines carry no American genetics. All of our current dogs are 100% desert-bred imports. This offers a fresh genetic line that decreases risks of inbreeding, hereditary diseases and genetic problems prevalent with American-bred Salukis.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

We can’t recommend Sahar enough. We had a wonderful experience getting our Saluki puppy, Etta (Galaxy). They were very responsive and took a lot of time ensuring that the puppy was a good match. We are so grateful to have connected with them and to have our new family member!
