Meet the breeder

I'm Sheri C., the breeder behind Sherlyn Kennels located in Old Saybrook, CT. I offer top-quality Yorkshire Terrier puppies for families who share the same love and passion I do for these lovely companions. I produce pups that will continue to excel in their chosen field, whether that be showing, or as an active companion. I believe quality is more important than quantity. I have a litter about twice a year. If local, stop at a dog show nearby and watch my dogs accel in the confirmation ring.

Q. & A. with Sheri

  • Why did you start breeding?

I regularly participate in conformation shows and started breeding to continue and improve upon my prized Yorkshire Terrier line. It is an honor to represent this breed and create opportunities for others to experience the same joy that I've found in raising these wonderful dogs.
  • What makes your program special?

I love being a breeder. It's so fulfilling to see the positive effect that a beloved, furry companion can have on his or her family. My passion for this breed is poured into every aspect of my breeding program. I truly love my dogs and what I do.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our Yorkshire Terrier puppies include blue and gold and black and gold. Lagotto Romagnolo puppies include orange roan, orange, off-white, brown roan, and brown. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Breeder-Reported Testing

Good level

Sherlyn Kennels reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Lagotti Romagnoli.

  • Hip Dysplasia (Preliminary)

Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

  • Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)

Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.

  • Congenital Deafness (BAER, registered with OFA)

A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.

  • Animal Genetics Panel

Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
