I'm Monica R., the breeder behind SouthernCharm Kennel (SCP) located in Loxley, AL. We focus on XL class American Bullies. All of our breeding dogs are health tested and we are active in conformation showing.

Why did you start breeding?
I was very into adoption and when I adopted my first puppy, she had contracted Parvo (which luckily she survived) and has been riddled with different health conditions her entire life. Even before I knew about proper health testing, I knew I wanted to be a part of creating a healthier, “better,” dog. Over the years I have learned so much and have gotten to experience so many new things.What makes your program special?
We strive to have healthy, well-rounded dogs that can be a true “companion” for their new owners. We want our dogs to be able to compete in the show ring, or compete in sports, or just sit at home on the couch with their people.Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and guardian homes.

Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Patellar Luxation
Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.
Shoulder Osteochondrosis, Dentition
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
