Meet the breeder

I'm Connie L., the breeder behind Spitfire Basenjis located in Moreno Valley, CA. I am a responsible, home-based breeder. I offer top-quality Basenji puppies with a focus on health, temperament and structure. All of my dogs have become AKC Champions, family dogs and lifelong friends! I strive for excellence in everything that I do. I offer perspective puppy families to visit my home.

Q. & A. with Connie

  • Why did you start breeding?

Purposeful and ethical breeding is so important for the healthy progression of the Basenji. I strive to not only produce quality puppies and continue my phenomenal bloodlines but to ensure the future of this beloved and unique breed for generations more to come! I love my puppies, and I know you will, too! I fell in Love with this breed at 9 years of age. I’ve been in this breed since 1999. I have a wonderful mentor of 60 years of knowledge.
  • What makes your program special?

As an avid member of the national Basenji club and a local Basenji Fanciers club, I am committed to maintaining and improving upon an excellent pedigree. My involvement in these clubs and in the show world speaks to the standards that I breed my dogs by. The health and overall well-being of my puppies is my main priority, and I place each pup into carefully screened, loving homes. In my breeding program, good health, temperament, and ability are essential, cuteness is guaranteed, and lots of love is always included! I also have each of my litters Temperament tested by an independent person. And Health testing of the Sire and Dam is of utmost Importance.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include brindle and white and red and white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

They live in my home and a kennel on my property.
