I'm Afton B., the breeder behind Srinagar Salukis located in Los Angeles, CA. Our dogs are bred for health, temperament, and intelligence. We strive to produce the best overall pets and family members. The loyalty and loving disposition of this breed are simply the best! We put a great deal of effort into raising our litters to ensure our puppy families will have the best experience raising their new family members.

Why did you start breeding?
I initially fell in love with Salukis in my teenage years because their ancient lineage—as the favorite dog of Egyptian pharaohs—combined with their extreme athleticism and incredible beauty. As I shared time with my first Salukis, I grew to love how deeply they connect with their human companions. Now in my 80s, I take great joy in introducing this wonderful breed to new families around the country.What makes your program special?
My mother and I began our breeding program in the 1950s with a specific focus on bringing out the warm and affectionate nature of Salukis. My Salukis have become known not only for their elegance and beauty, but also for their outgoing, effusive temperaments.What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include red, cream, black tan and white, black and tan, and black. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

I’ve had Jasper (originally named Samir, but he didn’t seem to like it) for just three days, and I’m already smitten with him! The moment I tried the name Jasper, he responded so well—it was like he picked it himself. As expected, he’s still learning the ropes of potty training and doesn’t quite understand the concept of walks yet, but that’s all part of the puppy experience. What he does know is how to run! He absolutely adores open spaces where he can dash around freely—it’s pure joy to watch him. Jasper has formed such a strong bond with me already. Every time I pick him up, he presses his nose to my cheek, which feels like his version of a little kiss. I think he learned it from me pressing my nose to him, which makes it even more special. He loves cuddling and sleeps right beside me every night, which has been such a comforting experience. One of his favorite things is the bag carrier I got for him; he loves being snug and close to me in it. Overall, Jasper is sweet, affectionate, and already such a cherished part of my life.
