I'm Jon V., the breeder behind Storvilt Norwegian Elkhounds located in Monee, IL. Our dogs are bred to preserve the genetics of this great dog of Norway. My female, Onnix, is a product of NKK triple champions of (moose) hunting trials, blood tracking, and show conformation. She is a trained whitetail deer tracker during hunting seasons in Illinois and Indiana. Our pups are bred to be versatile with the temperament of a great family dog, high hunting drive, intense speed/agility, and are expected to have a natural scenthound's big game blood tracking/trailing ability.
Q. & A. with Jon
Why did you start breeding?
I studied breeding for many years before my time came to pursue a dream. For a number of reasons, I wanted to bring this wonderful breed to North America for others to enjoy. It is an honor to represent this breed and create opportunities for others to experience the same.
What makes your program special?
We are dedicated to preserving the breed. Raising the next member of your family and preserving this breed are not responsibilities that we take lightly. If you are chosen as a home to one of our puppies, you will become a part of the Storvilt family and our story. The program is special because we go above and beyond to tailor a puppy socialization program to your wants and needs in a dog.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
