Meet the breeder

I'm Jessica K., the breeder behind Suma Kennels located in Marshfield, MO. My dogs are raised in a loving home environment where health and temperament is most important. I do show my dogs, and compete in performance events. With the GSP, we are lucky to hunt wild birds four months out of the year during our “off” season.

Q. & A. with Jessica

  • Why did you start breeding?

I was raised in performance sports as a kid. My parents were active in tracking and obedience with our Dobermans, in 1996 we got our first Swissy, and in 2007 I got my first GSP. I have traveled all over the country showing our dogs - Westminster and Royal Canin included, have produced dogs that have won at our national specialties and have competed in highest levels of AKC and NAVHDA in the field.
  • What makes your program special?

Each one of the puppies born here are raised with the intention of “staying with me”. I raise all litters in my home, and exposed to so many environments and stimulation to make them well rounded individuals before going home. My adult dogs get a lot of off time being “just dogs” - playing in water, exploring our farm, etc. I keep in contact with all our families through the life of their dog and beyond.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our Greater Swiss Mountain Dog puppies are black, white and red. German Shorthaired Pointer puppies include white and liver, liver roan, liver and white, and liver. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
