I'm Maureen C., the breeder behind SUNCENTRAL RIDGEBACKS located in Ocean Twp, NJ. Obtaining my first two Ridgebacks (Reagan and Chance) was a dream come true. They were such an important part of our family joining us pretty much everywhere we went- soccer games, softball games, it was a family affair. Yet, like so many others, I did not know how to research ethical breeders. It wasn't until my third ridgeback (Luna) that I learned importance of health testing, meeting both the dam and sire (if possible) and looking into the pedigree. Luna was my first show dog, together with her handler she became a Champion and then Grand Champion. With support from my breeder, I bred Luna and had two litters. It was so rewarding and to this day we still get pictures and visit with her pups. Keeping a bitch from Luna's second litter, I now have my fourth, Skye. Unfortunately, I learned that nature is not perfect, and all dogs are not show quality. This was a tough and disappointing lesson, but Skye is our party girl and we love her immensely. Years later I obtained my fifth, Irish- she was going to be my show girl that I personally showed. However, I learned with Irish that not every dog enjoys showing. At this time I met Deborah Higgins and I loved her bitch Lyra. As we became friends I shared with her all I had been through and the lessons I learned. When she bred Lyra and offered me the pick bitch I was thrilled. Samoa is not only a treasured part of my family, she is the whole package- She and I make a great team in the ring, she is a beast on the coursing field, and I can not wait to see the pups she produces.
