Sheepadoodle
About Kaya
Kaya is an amazing dog! She is smart, loyal, athletic, sensitive, and is the perfect dog in so many ways. She spends most of her time with us as we work outside on our 80-acre equestrian farm. She is not enclosed in any type of fence ever and yet never leaves her trained area around our immediate home unless approved by us. She has perfect recall even when she comes along on trail rides with us, no matter what deer or other animals we come across. Kaya has been extremely socialized with kids as we have two and she also is the resident greeter for all of our many horseback riding students that visit us regularly. She is beloved by all who meet her and requests for her offspring are common. Kaya was easy to train as she has a natural desire to please and is very intelligent. She gets a long and wavy coat and sheds very minimally as a first generation.
Good health testing
Good level
Tails and Trails Farm reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Sheepadoodles.
Hip Dysplasia (rDVM, not registered)
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia (rDVM, not registered)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Exercise Induced Collapse (EIC), PRA, Rod-Cone Degeneration (PRA-prcd), DNA Disease Panel
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
