I'm Theresa C., the breeder behind TAKARI’S Basenjis located in Gresham, OR. We proudly offer healthy puppies with great temperaments. Our dogs are our pride and joy and we love sharing their puppies! These dogs are bred for temperament and health, so families don’t have to worry about getting an unhealthy pup. All of our puppies are bred, raised, and loved indoors to produce happy, healthy pets for those seeking the best family companion!

When I bought my first Basenji, and I wanted to show, wasn’t getting the quality I wantedWhat are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include red and white and black tan and white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Price
Puppy prices include a $200 non-refundable deposit and between $2,100 - $2,300 final payment, before taxes & fees.

Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Thyroid (Autoimmune Thyroiditis, registered with OFA)
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
Fanconi Syndrome, PRA, Basenji Type
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
