I'm Laura G., the breeder behind Tammen's Kennel located in Sparta, TN. I offer top-quality Basenji puppies with a focus on health, form, and function. I believe quality is more important than quantity. My dogs are breed to first be great companions, then also to be able to excel in various different venues from performance events to conformation events to lure coursing. Just remember the amount of time you put into your puppy training will make it a much better companion. I look forward to connecting with you!
Q. & A. with Laura
Why did you start breeding?
I have built my life around these lovely little wild things ever since I started with my first Basenji in 1992. That started my odyssey into breeding, but it was not until a few years later when I got a 1/2 African foundation female from Susan Coe that I really got involved. She was the cornerstone to my breeding program.
What makes your program special?
My goal in my breeding program is to produce a healthy, all-around Hound who is a good family member, that can also compete in Performance events and Conformation events if the owner wishes. Out of the 38 dogs we have breed, 15 dogs have competed in dog events. Out of those 15 dogs, Tammen's Basenjis dogs have a total of 82 titles to their names.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Thyroid (Autoimmune Thyroiditis, registered with OFA), Dentition
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
