Meet the breeder

I'm Jayden P., the breeder behind The Puppy Patch Rat Terriers located in Molalla, OR. Located in Molalla, OR The Puppy Patch raises well-socialized Rat Terriers with strong temperaments and sound health. Our dogs are family members first. Puppies are raised in-home with intentional socialization, enrichment, and ongoing breeder support.

Q. & A. with Jayden

  • Why did you start breeding?

After owning Rat Terriers most of my life, I developed a deep appreciation for their versatility and personality. Through my work in veterinary medicine, I saw the importance of thoughtful breeding and early development. I started a small, intentional program focused on raising health-conscious, temperamentally sound companions rather than breeding at high volume.
  • What makes your program special?

The Puppy Patch is a small, home-based program in Molalla, OR where dogs are family first. Puppies are raised hands-on with early socialization, enrichment, and safe exposure to household, rural, and controlled clinical environments. With my veterinary background, health and preventive care are prioritized, and I remain a lifelong resource for my families.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include white and red, red white and sable, white and silver, black tan and white, and white, chocolate and tan. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

They live in my home and a kennel on my property.

We have had a wonderful experience with Jaden and Puppy Patch Rat Terriers. We first saw a picture of Obi on the first day of Spring and decided to apply to adopt him as a the youngest member of our family. Already having a Rat Terrier, that we rescued, we knew what we were going to be getting ourselves into, but we also knew what we were looking for. Jayden was more than willing to answer questions and was very responsive. We brought Obi home a week ago, and from his first night with us, he has fit right in with his older siblings, and our entire family. He is finding his own way, but willing to follow the other dogs and wants to learn. In his first week he’s had to ride in a car for over 9 hours (because of a vehicle break down and with lots of potty breaks!), got to stay in a motel, went to the vet, learned how to navigate stairs, two different pet doors, met The Cat, walked on a leash, but also followed his siblings off leash and stayed with his “pack”, working on “come”, “sit”, and “no bite”. He even put one tiny paw in the Columbia River and immediately decided that was a mistake. Lots of naps, and lost of playing. We’ve been enjoying him and know he was the right decision.
