I'm Lona K., the breeder behind Vom Eisbärteich Kennel located in Watertown, SD. I’m a registered breeder of Deutsch Drahthaars. All of my dogs are hunters and are sold to hunting homes only. Our goal is to raise good, sound, and healthy hunting dogs for the foot hunter. Our motto is, “To produce dogs that find game when there is none!” We also are striving to produce trouble-free dogs with the ability to cover big country and find wild birds. We take great pride in the dogs we produce.
Q. & A. with Lona
Why did you start breeding?
I got into this breed in 1996 and believe in the German system. This breed makes a great family companion as well as a capable hunting dog. You get to live with the dog for 365 days of the year, and if you're lucky you get to hunt with your dog 90 days of the year!
What makes your program special?
My goal is to improve the breed and leave it better than when I found it.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
