Meet the breeder

I'm Pam L., the breeder behind Voyageur Kennels located in Marion, IL. We are dedicated to providing our families with wonderful healthy pets that represent the breed standard.

Q. & A. with Pam

  • Why did you start breeding?

After many years of showing and training dogs, I decided that I would like to help contribute to the breed standard by studying pedigrees and breeding quality dog.
  • What makes your program special?

My breeding program is centered on a structure focused vision. I'm not just breeding dogs- I'm building a line. My emphasis on structure sets me aside from breeders that focus solely on one or two features like size of head shape. Structure affects health, mobility, working ability, and longevity. I've deliberately chosen my foundational dogs and take the time to evaluate each of them fully before breeding. Many breeders rush to produce litters. I am patient, intentional and think generationally. I prioritize health testing and structural assessments including outside expert input. This makes my kennel a trustworthy source for sound, healthy dogs. I am focused on refinement, not quantity. I am developing a distinctive line which requires time, discipline, and a breeder's eye for potential. With six children at home, including four under 17, my dogs are raised in a dynamic, family-rich environment that socializes them early. That gives my pups a strong temperament foundation. they are confident, people-friendly companions.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever puppies are red gold. Boerboel puppies include irish marked, reddish brown, and fawn. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
