I'm Antje F., the breeder behind Wachter Bullmastiffs located in Washington, CT. I breed and show top-quality Bull Mastiffs. My heavy involvement in the show world speaks to the standards that I breed my dogs by. I breed in order to preserve the wonderful attributes I found in my dogs. Because of my dedication to both the health and quality of the Bull Mastiff, it's my goal to pass these traits down to future generations.
Q. & A. with Antje
Why did you start breeding?
I fell in love with that first bully and started watching the breed ring and noticed different styles and temperaments. I watched for 10 to 15 yrs before deciding to 'make my own' to replace my passing dog, knew what I wanted.
What makes your program special?
Good temperament is most important. I will not include any Best in show dog just because it is gorgeous in conformation if it doesn't have a good temperament. I prefer an athletic build rather than the muscle bound look. One of my boys was happy to jog for 1 1/2 miles without becoming exhausted or lame at age 9 yrs. A dog 26" at the shoulder and 120 lbs athlete.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include fawn brindle and fawn. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and guardian homes.
