I'm Judy A., the breeder behind Wedgewood Bracco located in Aiken, SC. I am a small home-based kennel that shows my dogs at conformation shows. I breed them occasionally. Our goal is to produce healthy, quality dogs and are not focused on quantity.

Why did you start breeding?
Around 1992, I started in German Shepherds and was involved with a local dog club participating in obedience classes. I acquired my first Bloodhound, "Gump", in 1995, joined the American Bloodhound club, and that's when I became involved conformation showing.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

About Matteo
Matteo is a large orange and white bracco italiano. He has had his hips and elbows certified with OFA. Elbows are normal and hips are excellent. Matteo loves other adults, children, dogs and cats. He is a very kind natured fellow. He has been worked in the field only briefly this summer due to the heat in the south. We will continue this fall.

About Chiclet
Chiclet is an orange and white bracco italiano with an outstanding pedigree. She has preliminary X-rays sent into OFA for hips and elbows. This was done right before her second birthday. Elbows are normal and hips are good. Chiclet loves birds and will start training this fall.

Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Brucellosis
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
