I'm Marie K., the breeder behind Wild Mountain Chihuahuas located in Northern, CO. It is a privilege to be able to help families experience the joy, snuggles, laughs, and loyalty of welcoming a chihuahua pup into their lives! We strive to produce healthy, intelligent, socialized, and good tempered puppies that are able to integrate comfortably into a variety of environments.

  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

    Our puppies include long and smooth coat varieties. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies include chocolate, cream, fawn, black sabled fawn, blue, blue fawn, gold, blue and white, blue and tan, black and white, chocolate and tan, fawn and white, cream and white, black and tan, and chocolate and white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Marie

Marie has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.

Together, you’ll choose the puppy that’s right for you, stay in touch with regular updates, and plan how to bring your new puppy home.

Puppy prices include a $650 non-refundable deposit and between $3,150 - $4,150 final payment, before taxes & fees.

“Puppies are evaluated individually and prices are based on quality, size, color, gender, etc. Included: Microchip, prepaid AKC registration, vet check, initial vaccinations, and a puppy go-home pack. Deposit is refundable only if pup becomes ill, badly injured, or dies while under our care. You can choose a refund or to transfer deposit to another available pup of your choice for up to 1 year.”

Marie may provide a written contract or health guarantee when you purchase a puppy. This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase.   • Hip Dysplasia (rDVM, not registered)

    Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

  • Eye Examination (rDVM, not registered with OFA)

    Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.

  • Cardiac Evaluation (rDVM, not registered with OFA)

    Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.

  • Patellar Luxation

    Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.

  • DNA Disease Panel

    Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).

    I was nearly scammed by a couple of so called breeders of Chihuahuas, which is when I found Good Dog and Marie of Wild Mountain Chihuahuas. Good Dog's screening process of their breeders gave me piece of mind that I would not find myself in a scam. I found Marie by searching Good Dog's breeders for a Long Haired Chihuahua in Colorado. She was very responsive, informative, and knowledgable. Marie answered all my questions and explained the process thoroughly. Most importantly, the expertise and time she put into raising the litter with her mama dog was exceptional. When we met her to pick up our little Razzle, he already knew his name, was familiar with potty training, was eating wholesome food and was social. Marie shared lots of information about nutrition, training and health related topics pertaining to a Chihuahua. She even provided food she was feeding the pups, a blanket with the litter's scent and his favorite toys! Her thoughtfulness in matching the right pup to the right family was evidence of her commitment to the health and happiness of her pups as well as the family choosing the pup. Once the choice was made, Marie sent videos periodically until we picked up our boy. The experience was very positive and we would go through Marie again without hesitation.

    A Wonderful Experience with Wild Mountain Chihuahuas I feel incredibly lucky to have found Wild Mountain Chihuahuas. From the very beginning, the entire experience felt thoughtful, professional, and clearly centered around the well-being of the puppies. Before placing a puppy, she actually took the time to talk with me and make sure I would be the right fit. I really appreciated that — it showed how much she cares about where her puppies end up. Over the following month she kept me updated with pictures, videos, and helpful information about the puppies and how they were developing. You can tell this is a family that truly adores their dogs. We talked about socialization and proper care, and it was clear these puppies are raised with a lot of love and attention. When I brought River home, the results of that early care were obvious immediately. He wasn’t nervous at all — he walked into the house like he already belonged here. He adjusted quickly to his play area and bonded with me almost right away. She also sent him home with toys and a blanket that smelled like his littermates and parents, which really helped with the transition. River is affectionate, confident, and very well socialized. I’m so thankful for the care that went into raising him and for such a positive experience. If you’re looking for a breeder who truly cares about their puppies and the homes they go to, Wild Mountain Chihuahuas is wonderful.
