I'm Susan P., the breeder behind Windy Hill Bergamascos located in Maryland. We are huge animal lovers and have a special place in our hearts for our dogs. We want to provide top-quality beloved companions. We work hard to breed exemplary Bergamasco Sheepdogs that are well taken care of from day one and are prepared to excel in loving and caring homes. We love our dogs and puppies, and we strive to place each pup in a home suited to their temperament and ability.
Q. & A. with Susan
Why did you start breeding?
My science background and love for the breed helped me consider breeding. I realized how rare the breed is and the lack of diversity in the pedigrees in the US. So I looked for just the right male to import directly from Italy from one of the oldest and most respected kennels on the breed. I also took in a lovely female that was imported from Italy that became my foundation.
What makes your program special?
I carefully select breeding partners. I review pedigrees, consider temperament, structure, breed type. I am an advocate for health testing. All of my dogs at the minimum have hips and elbows xrayd and posted at OFA.org. it is hard to find breeders that consider health testing important.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
