I'm the breeder behind WyEast Kennels located in Portland, OR. We've been owning and breeding Black and Tan Coonhounds since 1971. We breed well-rounded, happy puppies with a focus on temperament, health, and conformation. We dearly love our dogs and what we do, and we look forward to connecting with you!

Why did you start breeding?
When we started our breeding program, we were guided by mentors in the breed. We strive to maintain the unique characteristics of the Black and Tan Coonhound while placing an emphasis on producing puppies of superior health and conformation.What makes your program special?
We have concentrated on the features most important to us: temperament, soundness, and type. Our dogs excel in these traits and others. We take great care with each breeding to ensure we are producing puppies that are excellent representations of the breed. We love what we do and truly want the very best for our puppies and their forever families.Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and a kennel on my property.
Getting a puppy from Jim & Kathy
Jim & Kathy has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready to reach out, feel free to ask any questions about the breed, their program, or specific puppies.
Together, you’ll choose the puppy that’s right for you, stay in touch with regular updates, and plan how to bring your new puppy home.
Price
Puppy prices include a $500 refundable deposit and $500 final payment, before taxes & fees.
“Puppies come with AKC and UKC registration, a microchip and AKC Reunite, vaccinations, and worming. We ask for half of the price after puppies are born, with the rest of the balance due at delivery.”
Contract & health guarantee
Jim & Kathy may provide a written contract or health guarantee when you purchase a puppy. This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase.
