Q. & A. with Ann

  • Why did you start breeding?

I owned several members of the breed before co-owning an import with a friend and embarking on the journey. Responsible, ethical breeders play an important role in the future of the dog ecosystem. We are guardians for the future Jindos. My goal is to produce quality puppies, educate, exhibit, and preserve the line of these incredible companions.
  • What makes your program special?

With our fellow co-owners/cooperative kennels, we are the only kennels in the U.S. that register dogs with a reputable kennel club, health-test with OFA/PennHip, and offer contracts/warranty against health issues for Jindos. My commitment is to provide you with a professional and friendly puppy-buying experience; and that includes always having responsible practices when it comes to breeding, training, and rehoming my puppies.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

They live in my home and guardian homes.

Breeder-Reported Testing

Excellent level

YooShin Kennels reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Jindos.

  • Hip Dysplasia

Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

  • Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)

Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.

  • Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)

Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.

  • Patellar Luxation

Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.

  • Thyroid (Autoimmune Thyroiditis, registered with OFA)

A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
