The Good Breeder Mentoring Program allows our Good Breeder community to develop meaningful, rewarding relationships with fellow Good Breeders!
by Monica DeBosscher, Esq. - Director of Partnerships, Community & Legal Affairs at Good Dog
The Good Breeder Mentoring Program provides an opportunity for the Good Breeders in our community to connect and learn from one another. The program allows our Good Breeders who are more experienced to share their knowledge and know-how with Good Breeders who may be newer or just starting out in their breeding programs and wish to continue their development through a supportive relationship with a veteran breeder. Good Breeder mentees receive access to expertise, support, and guidance, as well as the opportunity to expand their supportive network of good forces in the dog world. The Good Breeder Mentoring Program helps cultivate a sense of community and collaboration among Good Breeders, promotes a culture of learning in the dog world, and helps to further develop the next generation of Good Breeders.
Good Breeder Mentors and Good Breeder Mentees are paired together in small mentor groups by breed, group, and/or geographic region, in order to give participants a broader group of peers to connect with and learn from. Each mentoring group participates in structured and unstructured interactions. All members of the mentoring groups contribute and encourage each other to invest in continued learning and growth.
Along with all of the benefits our Good Breeders already receive, mentors and mentees participate in exclusive monthly meetings available only to participants, where mentoring groups share best practices when it comes to things like breeding, payments and deposits, contracts, buyer policies, communication with buyers, and social media practices. Each mentoring group also participates in monthly Coffee Chats for some informal, peer-to-peer conversation around a specific topic that matters most to the dog community. The mentoring groups participate in special topical discussions in the Good Breeder Facebook Group, and attend an exclusive annual roundtable discussion with Good Dog’s founders to discuss how Good Dog can best support the Good Breeder community.
