Dr. Shelby is an associate veterinarian with Kokopelli Assisted Reproductive Services based out of Sacramento California. She is board eligible and speciality trained in Theriogenology, the study of reproductive veterinary medicine. In this presentation, she discusses overall neonatal resuscitation and care post whelping, including supplies to have on hand, revival of puppies born with weak vitals, APGAR scores, the use of incubators vs other heating sources/whelping boxes, as well as managing tube feeding and dealing with different potential complications that can occur during the whelping process. This should be an informative and insightful topic for both new and seasoned breeders with the ultimate goal of helping more puppies survive/thrive post natural whelp.
