Pickup Plans on Good Dog

Pickup plans on Good Dog make coordinating go-home day simple. Build a shared plan with your buyer right from your to-do list, capturing all the important details — from transportation to flight info — in one place.

Go-home day is one of the most exciting moments of sending your pups to their forever homes…and one of the busiest. Pickup plans on Good Dog give you and your buyer a shared space to plan every important detail of the day, all in one place. From transportation and timing to flight info and helpful notes, you can build the plan together and stay on the same page from your first conversation through pickup day.

How It Works

Get started from your to-do list: Pickup plans are available anytime in your to-do list. You can create one from your to-do list on your desktop or mobile web browser.

Fill in the details: When you open a new pickup plan, you'll be asked to fill in the details that are essential to a smooth go-home experience — including how the puppy will get home, the pickup location, date and time, transportation fees, flight details, and any other notes that might be helpful.

Build it collaboratively: Pickup plans are designed to be a shared space, so you and your buyer can both view and edit as plans come together. We recommend talking through the details with your buyer as you build the plan together — that way you're both on the same page from the start.

Stay organized through go-home day: Each week, you'll receive a summary email recapping any upcoming pickups you have scheduled and any recent changes made to pickup plans, so you always have a clear record.

Frequently Asked Questions

Getting Started

Q: How do I get started with pickup plans on Good Dog?

A: There's no setup required! You can create one anytime from your To-Do List on your desktop or mobile web browser.

Q: When should I start putting together a pickup plan?

A: You can build a pickup plan anytime, so it's flexible to your timeline. We recommend starting the conversation early in the process so you and your buyer can talk through transportation and logistics together, then filling in the details as plans come into focus.

Creating a Pickup Plan

Q: What details does a pickup plan capture?

A: When you open a new pickup plan, you'll be asked to fill in:

  • How the puppy will get home (in-person pickup, driving to meet the buyer halfway, working with a flight nanny, pet-safe air cargo, or ground drop-off with a trusted carrier)
  • Location of the handoff, such as an address, airport, or meeting spot
  • Pickup date and time
  • Any associated transportation fees
  • Flight details, so arrival and timing can be tracked
  • Any other notes that might be helpful for a smooth handoff

Q: Can buyers fill in any of the pickup plan details themselves?

A: Yes — pickup plans are designed to be collaborative, so both you and your buyer can fill in and edit most of the fields. The exceptions are transport fees and flight details, which are filled in by you only. These are details that typically come from the breeder's side (since you'd be setting the transportation cost or coordinating with the flight nanny or cargo company), and keeping them accessible only to you helps make sure the information stays accurate.

Q: Where can I add a transporter's contact info or other extra details?

A: The Notes section is the perfect place to add anything that doesn't fit into the other fields — a transporter's name and phone number, meeting place instructions, or anything else you and your buyer want to keep on hand for pickup day.

Editing and Sharing

Q: Can the pickup plan be edited after it's created?

A: Yes — either you or your buyer can edit the pickup plan whenever plans change, so the most up-to-date details are always in one place.

Q: Is there an approval step before changes go through?

A: No — pickup plans are designed to be collaborative, so neither of you needs to sign off on the other's updates. Both of you can view and edit the plan as it's being built, and either of you can make updates as things change. We recommend talking through the details with your buyer as you fill the plan in together so you're both on the same page from the start.

Notifications and Reminders

Q: Will I receive any reminders about my pickup plans?

A: Yes — each week, you'll receive a summary email that lets you know of any upcoming pickups you have scheduled and recaps any recent changes made to pickup plans, so you always have a clear record.

Buyer Experience

Q: What does my buyer see on their end?

A: Your buyer can view and edit the pickup plan anytime from their To-do list. They'll receive a notification whenever the pickup plan is shared or updated

Q: What if my buyer adds something to the pickup plan that doesn't work for me?

A: Because pickup plans are collaborative, your buyer can edit the plan at any time. If something gets added that doesn't work on your end, you can edit the plan to reflect what's possible and follow up with your buyer in your message thread to talk it through. Talking through the details together as you build the plan can also help avoid mismatched expectations from the start.
