During this webinar, Dr. German discusses his research in companion animal obesity and the use of growth charts to assess the risk of later weight issues in puppies. Much like in humans, rapid early growth is associated with obesity later in life in cats and dogs. Growth charts can help identify at-risk puppies, and once those puppies are identified, we can take action to give them the best chance of staying healthy. Dr. German also talks about other preventative strategies and solutions for combatting canine obesity.

Dr. Alex German, DVM, is one of the foremost experts of canine obesity. He is a Professor of Small Animal Medicine at the University of Liverpool, England, where he also runs the Royal Canin Weight Management Clinic. His research is focused on the effects of early life nutrition and growth on later obesity in puppies and kittens. He is a member of the executive board of the nonprofit organization, the Association for Pet Obesity Prevention (APOP)
