Health guarantee overview

Many breeders offer a health guarantee to guarantee that their puppies are healthy, have age appropriate vaccinations and deworming. For example, guarantees may outline specific conditions covered, those conditions not covered, the compensation they offer if a condition arises.

A health guarantee is intended to protect the puppy, the new owner (you!), and the breeder, and it should clarify the obligations of both the breeder and the buyer. Because no two breeders will have the same guarantee, it is important to read and understand exactly what your guarantee contains. For example, guarantees may outline specific conditions covered, or a plan the breeder may follow if a condition arises.

As with other contracts, if you do not understand something, talk to your breeder so you can ensure that you and your breeder are on the same page.
