Good Dog's screening process

When reviewing a breeder’s self-reported practices, we take a holistic approach to evaluating their whole program. Our team comprehensively considers many aspects of a breeding program, focusing on five key areas:

  • Breeding practices
  • Physical health of the breeding dogs and puppies
  • Mental health of the breeding dogs and puppies
  • Environment
  • Buyer education and policies

Our team reviews each breeder's reported practices across all key areas to understand their overall program. The process starts with an online questionnaire where breeders share their practices, which we then review against our community standards.

By providing education and transparency into breeders’ different self-reported practices, we hope to help equip people to make an informed choice based on their preferences and priorities. And we always encourage prospective puppy buyers to ask breeders directly whenever they have additional questions on a breeder’s reported breeding practices or are looking to see specific documents, such as health testing results.
