Health testing

Every breed is susceptible to certain health conditions or diseases. Just like humans, dogs can inherit health conditions from their parents. Health screening of breeding dogs and making informed breeding decisions can help reduce the likelihood of puppies inheriting certain health issues.

Learning about the common health conditions in a breed and any related screening tests for those health conditions is critical to being able to make an informed decision about the right breeding program. We encourage prospective puppy buyers to ask their breeders what health testing has been done on the parents of the litter they are considering and, if applicable, confirm which tests have been done (or not done) on each parent dog by requesting to see written reports of the test results.
