Q. & A. with Shelby

  • Why did you start breeding?

Welcome to 501 Shepherds! We are small in size but big in our efforts! Breeders of West German show line German Shepherds. We are located on a beautiful acreage in Clinton, Arkansas just 2 hours north of Little Rock! We have a very limited amount of litters per year and are dedicated to producing healthy puppies with outstanding temperaments, strong nerves, a rich red/black pigment, and correct structure. Our program is focused on bettering the breed by selecting high quality, health tested dogs from some of the best imported lines from Germany. At 501 Shepherds our dogs are family and are cared for, loved, and raised in a home setting. Our mission is to not only provide you with a dog, but the next member of your family! Contact us below!
  • What makes your program special?

We breed quality health tested AKC German Shepherds. We breed for health, temperament, and betterment of the breed we love. We specialize in WGSL black and red breedings (stock coat and long). We pride ourselves in creating great family pets that have so much potential in their lifetime to fulfill. Cleanliness and healthy dogs is our main goal when releasing a pup into their new families hands. This is what makes us stand out from the rest. Our pups and dogs are ALWAYS considered our family pets before they will ever be classified as our breeding dogs. They deserve to live the happiness life possible so that’s what we hope to do for them! Our program is not like the rest. We carefully hand pick each dog/pup for our program. They come from imported lines that were specifically bred for the betterment of our breed. Each pup is raised in our home and nurtured daily with socialization. We start our pups at a young age with getting used to unfamiliar things/sounds. They are kept in a sanitary area that is cleaned daily, multiple times!
  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

Our puppies include stock and long coat varieties. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies are black and red. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

They live in my home and a kennel on my property.
