I'm Rodney A., the breeder behind Aguirre Farm located in Bakersfield, CA. I've grown up with German Shepherds, learning from my mom, a breeder for 35 years. We focus on raising healthy, well-socialized puppies in a loving environment. Our goal is to ensure each dog finds a caring home, where they can thrive as loyal, happy companions for their families.
Q. & A. with Rodney
Why did you start breeding?
I’ve grown up surrounded by German Shepherds, learning the breeding process from my mom, who has been breeding for over 35 years. I’ve seen firsthand the dedication, care, and commitment it takes to raise healthy, well-socialized pups. Growing up with this breed, I've developed a deep understanding and love for German Shepherds and the responsibility of finding them loving homes.
What makes your program special?
What makes my program special is the thorough research I’ve done on specific bloodlines. I carefully select breeding pairs based on their health, temperament, and lineage. I also follow reputable breeders with strong programs to ensure my dogs come from high-quality lines. This dedication allows me to raise German Shepherds with excellent health and well-rounded temperaments.

About Khaleesi
Khaleesi has a wonderfully calm and confident nature. She carries herself with a quiet assurance, always at ease in any environment. Her temperament is gentle and balanced, making her a true joy to be around. When it comes to playtime, Khaleesi is much more driven by toys than food, eagerly engaging in games with a fun, spirited energy. Her relaxed demeanor and playful enthusiasm make her the perfect companion and her loving nature shines through in every moment you share together.
Aguirre Farm reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for German Shepherds.
Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
