I'm Joanna K., the breeder behind Alchemy Weimaraners located in Ridgewood, NY. The key tenets of the Alchemy breeding program are promotion and enhancement of genetic diversity, screening and selecting parents for health and longevity, and producing excellent companion dogs for active families that also come with tremendous natural field ability, confident, sociable, intelligent and trainable temperaments, sound functional conformation and excellent breed type.

Why did you start breeding?
I started many years ago as a student, when I was helping my uncle to whelp and take care of his litters. I have learned from that to now continue breeding.What makes your program special?
Our litter was whelped in our home with the entire family deeply engaged. The puppies are growing up with our three children. We perform lots of enrichment programs, testing and evaluations. The puppies are very well socialized with other people and dogs, and are exposed to different places and environments. Our puppies have exceptionally good temperaments, they are friendly and smart.What are the different breed coat types in your program?
Our puppies have smooth coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies are silver gray. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.Where do your breeding dogs live?

Getting a puppy from Joanna

After buyers complete the application and screening process, Joanna partners with them to find the best puppy match.

Price
“The price includes the AKC registration, first round of vaccinations, deworming, microchip and puppy socialization. The deposit will go towards the full puppy price.”

Good level
Alchemy Weimaraners reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Weimaraners.
Hip Dysplasia (rDVM, not registered)
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia (rDVM, not registered)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Vet Wellness Exam
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
Hyperuricosuria (HUU)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
