I'm Amy N., the breeder behind Ambition Irish Setters located in Grand Junction, CO. Our dogs are bred not for profit, the money from purchases goes toward theirs and their dam's health. The majority are placed in loving companion homes on limited registration with a few going to show homes on full registration. We do not breed dogs unless they meet our ultimate standards. I want a sound dog, temperamentally, and in their body.
Q. & A. with Amy
Why did you start breeding?
In 1996 I got my foundation sire from my best friend's mom who'd just had her first litter. He turned out to be excellent and won his class at the national and finished easily. In 1999 I got my foundation dam from a breeder in CA with a complimentary pedigree and conformation, and they produced my first homebred champion. Along I have paired up with Gail Miller of Analainn Irish Setters in Boulder, CO and we have produced some lovely top winning dog and companions. The litters are primarily born and raised at Gail's home in Boulder.
What makes your program special?
We breed simply for ourselves and though we've had great successes in the past six generations, knowing our puppies and their owners are happy is the utmost important to us. My dogs are healthy and well cared for house dogs, with a nice fenced yard, and companions and pets are placed in excellent homes. We go to the utmost to ensure health screening in parents, and new home screening for our puppies before they leave our home.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
