I'm Kelli H., the breeder behind Anamchara Skyes located in Grand Rapids, MI. I am an ethical, conscientious breeder who diligently strives to conserve the Skye Terrier, focusing on health, temperament and utility. I sincerely want my fur kids to be healthy, happy, high vibe and truly loved! As a conservation breeder, I truly understand the immense impact that I have on the lifetime physical and mental health of my puppies. I provide love, care, enrichment, optimal nutrition and proven science-based socialization modalities to bolster their lifelong success as canine companions and beloved family members.

Why did you start breeding?
I have been blessed with having a variety of pedigreed dogs throughout my life - Bloodhounds, Chow Chows, Shar Peis, Standard Poodles and some rescues, including a pekinese. I am a true animal lover! My first "job" in middle school was working for an Airedale Terrier breeder kennel taking care of their show dogs. I participated in the Michigan 4H youth program for many years. In 2008, I became friends with a standard poodle breeder and worked as her assistant in grooming, showing, whelping litters and helping her care for her dogs and puppies. In 2015, I began my amazing journey in preserving the rare ancient cat breed, the Turkish angora. Within the past 10 years I have worked diligently to improve the Turkish angora breed by lowering COI (inbreeding) and creating better temperaments. When my 14 year old Standard poodle passed away in 2022, it left me lost without a canine companion. As a child, I used to study encyclopedias and I remember being enthralled with the pages upon pages of dog breeds. The breed I always loved the most was the Skye Terrier. So here I am now, with the dog of my dreams!What makes your program special?
I am passionate about Skye Terriers and their preservation. Extinction is forever! Please support vulnerable heritage breeds. I am dedicated to my dogs health, longevity and quality of life. I provide lots of love, enrichment, life adventures, fun dog sports and an optimal fresh food complete diet for my beloved Skyes.What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies are gray. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Parent health testing
Excellent level

Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
Patellar Luxation
Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.
DNA Profile
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
