Anvil Wires

Joe & Erin Y.

Breeder of German Wirehaired Pointers

Meet the breeder

I'm Joe & Erin Y., the breeder behind Anvil Wires located in Watkins, MN. We are active hunters as well as participating in performance and conformation events. We have a variety of buyers who participate in organized events with their dogs or don't but one thing is for sure, all of our buyers are people who are active outdoors and cuddle with their dogs in the home.

Q. & A. with Joe & Erin

  • Why did you start breeding?

Our versatile dogs represent the breed well and people were requesting puppies from them. We traveled the nation to learn and meet different dogs and people to better our breeding program and knowledge base. It is through learning from eclectic sources that we can provide our buyers with an exceptional puppy. After 6 years of learning and owning this breed we bred our first litter.
  • What makes your program special?

We take breeding seriously and go the extra mile to breed healthy correct puppies/dogs. When we match dogs we look at OFA health tests, conformation, temperament, DNA history and whether the two dogs complement each other in those areas. When our buyers get a puppy from us they are also getting a mentor and support for the life of that puppy/dog.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
