I'm Lisande D., the breeder behind Arwen Whippets located in Anthem, AZ. We are a home based breeding program with a great amount of education and experience in breeding healthy Whippet puppies. We focus on health and temperament. Each puppy is lovingly hand-raised by us in our home to ensure health and harmony at the start of its life. Our beautiful pups are sure to make loving companions for your family for many years to come!

Why did you start breeding?
I understand the very important role that breeders undertake; today’s breeders are the guardians of future dogs. I started breeding quality Whippet puppies over 20 years ago. I have always been enthusiastic about my program and look forward to advancing the wonderful qualities of the Whippet with a focus on health, temperament, and structure!What makes your program special?
We are very selective about our breeding dogs. All of our dogs are fully healthy and genetically tested. The health and temperament of our puppies are our number one priority. We are very conscious about who purchases our puppies, always ensuring that they are given the best life possible. I also offer lifetime breeder support for all of my clients! Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.

Lisande obviously loves and cares for her whippets and their puppies. She cares that prospective owners are committed to pet adoption and competent to care for her new puppies. The puppy that we adopted was one of nine in the litter. Lisande trained the mother and her pups to go out/in a single flap pet door for potty in the back yard. When I took my puppy home at 10 weeks, he was essentially potty trained. One photo shows our double flap pet door to our back yard. Our new puppy had it figured out after 15 minutes with some treats and encouragement. It has been only two weeks since we bought the puppy home and he now uses the pet door on his own and has not had an “accident” in our house. Before Lisande sent the puppy home with us, she completed the AKC registration process and initial medical records. She also gave us recommendations on feeding, training, collars and a variety of other questions that we had for her. We love our new puppy an enjoy seeing him continue to grow, and learn.
