Meet the breeder

I'm Caleb B., the breeder behind Barajas Family Ranch located in Stanwood, WA. We are dedicated to responsible breeding with a focus on health, temperament, and structure. Our program is built on strong UKC champion bloodlines. We prioritize producing stable, well-rounded dogs suited for both companion homes and performance/show potential.

Q. & A. with Caleb

  • Why did you start breeding?

In 2019 I bought my first APBT and fell in love with the breed. My breeding program gives me the opportunity to share these amazing companions with other loving families and to pass on a passion for the breed.
  • What makes your program special?

Our program focuses on producing stable, family-oriented dogs by combining proven UKC champion bloodlines with hands-on, in-home raising and early socialization from day one. BFR was founded with appreciation for the breed and the loyalty they bring to a family. We are committed to raising well-tempered, confident dogs that reflect the true nature of the breed as dependable, loving companions.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

  • Elbow Dysplasia (rDVM, not registered), Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)

  • Cardiac Evaluation (rDVM, not registered with OFA)

Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.

  • Thyroid (Autoimmune Thyroiditis, registered with OFA), Vet Wellness Exam

A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
