Meet the breeder

I'm Lisa C., the breeder behind baycitiesamstaffs located in Modesto, CA. Hello, my name is Lisa Cornett. I am an AKC judge and the owner of a grooming business. I have been involved with the American Staffordshire Terrier for 27 years, and the breed has played a significant role in both my personal and professional life. Over the years, I have titled my American Staffordshire Terriers in performance and conformation, which has given me a deep appreciation for the breed’s versatility and dedication. I remain actively involved in the breed community and participate in health testing, as well as efforts to identify emerging breed-related diseases. Supporting the continued health and strength of the American Staffordshire Terrier is very important to me. I am also committed to ensuring that future homes for my AmStaffs are lifelong placements; we do not typically place dogs as breeding dogs, but as pets and family members first and foremost.

Q. & A. with Lisa

  • Why did you start breeding?

Studied the breed over 26 plus years . Worked for vets and groomers . Found it the best all around breed for me not for everyone . I got into breeding by wanting to see the best and most sound dogs exhibited . I spend a lot of time studying pedigrees . As well as traveling the world to meet other am staffs and enthusiasts . I find it most important to have a great mind on a dog than win ribbons .
  • What makes your program special?

I’m a complete hobby breeder. I don’t hardly breed . When I do it’s for the better of the breed . To emphasize the best characteristics. Quality over quantity .
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include red, fawn, red brindle, and black brindle. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
