Meet the breeder

I'm the breeder behind Bear Pond Aussies / Leonbergers of Maine located in Turner, ME. At Bear Pond Aussies, we believe that getting your pup is an experience that starts the minute you make the decision to adopt from us. You will have the opportunity to view our puppies at 6 weeks of age. We encourage everyone to be open to colors and markings because what is really important is the bond that you make during your visit. I stay in communication weekly with "pupdates" and information to help you prepare for your new pup. Currently, there is a huge demand for puppies. Please take your time to find the puppy for you! Remember, this is a long term decision for you and the puppy. The longer wait is small compared to the future happiness that you will receive from your new puppy!

Q. & A. with Heidi

  • Why did you start breeding?

I have always enjoyed the process of seeing pups from birth to going to their new families.
  • What makes your program special?

What makes our program special is the continued relationships that I maintain with the puppy families. I recently sold my daycare center so I am able to be home full-time to care for the dogs, as being a breeder requires a full-time commitment. I also feel that I have a vision of the standard of puppies that I am developing. I started with the best breeder dogs available to me to begin my program.
  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

Miniature Australian Shepherd puppies are miniature size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our Leonberger puppies include yellow and sandy. Miniature Australian Shepherd puppies include blue merle, red merle, red, and black. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

They live in my home and a kennel on my property.

We are so happy to have Tilly with us. Heidi with Bear Pond Aussies was available for questions and shared pictures and even facetimed with Tilly before we made a commitment. Pickup was a breeze once we chose Tilly from the crowd of puppies. Good Dog made the "paperwork" a breeze as well, and supported us in preparing to have a young puppy at home. Highly recommend both Good Dog and Bear Pond Aussies.
