I'm Cathleen C., the breeder behind Bellehound located in Dry Ridge, KY. I am passionate about breeding dogs with a focus on temperament, structure, and breed standards. My puppies are given lots of socialization and training to make them well rounded dogs. I am a member of the Basenji Club of America and the Association of Thai Ridgeback Owners and Fanciers. My dogs are family and very important, I work to educated people on my breeds.

Why did you start breeding?
I bought my first show Basenji in 1996, worked with that dog's breeders to find the right match for my foundation bitch, when we decided to breed her. We also showed her in conformation as well as competed with her and her offspring in lure coursing. I also dabbled in obedience mostly for fun. I got into Thai Ridgebacks in 2000 and learned as much as I could about the breed from mentors both here in the US, as well as in the breed's homeland, Thailand. I was immersed in the breed for five years before I ever bred my first litter of Thai Ridgebacks. I also do rescue and rehabilitation for both breeds. Education is the key to success when it comes to living and loving both of these primitive breeds. They're not the breed for everyone or the novice/first-time dog owner.What makes your program special?
I stand behind my puppies for their whole entire life. If for any reason their owner cannot keep them, I take them back regardless of age or reason. I do the proper health testing of both parents to ensure their offspring are healthy both physically as well as mentally.Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

"Basenji puppies: $1,500 Thai Ridgeback puppies: $3,000. All puppies are the same price regardless of color or gender. Once you show me proof that your pet puppy has been altered I will reimburse you half the cost of the alter."

Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Fanconi Syndrome, PRA, Basenji Type
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
